ReliaSoft
continues to improve the usability and add to the features in the
Xfmea
software. Some of the new and enhanced features in recent Service
Releases are described next. These minor version
updates are free to registered users of Xfmea
3.
Updated May 2006 to include new features in Build 3.5.2
Multi-Select for Delete and Copy/Paste
Managing your analysis
data is easier than ever with the ability to simultaneously select
multiple records for Delete or Copy/Paste. The new multi-select feature
can be applied to records in the System Hierarchy and/or the FMEA.

Edit Records from Query
Results and Other Utilities
It is now quick and easy to open and edit individual records from your query
results. Simply double-click a row to display the full record
properties. This convenient feature is also available in the Find and
Replace window as well as the Criticality Analysis utility.

Import Directly from an Excel Spreadsheet in
the J1739 or AIAG Style
In addition to the Standard and Comprehensive templates that are
available for importing FMEA data from an Excel spreadsheet, Xfmea now
provides automatic import directly from Excel spreadsheets that follow
the two most common standards: SAE J1739 and AIAG FMEA-3. These
templates are available in the "Examples" folder in the application
directory and can be activated from the Settings(2) page of the User
Setup.
Create Phrase Set
Automatically from An Existing FMEA
Phrase Sets allow you to compile and organize lessons learned from
previous analyses that can be used to save time, ensure consistency
and/or facilitate brainstorming for new analyses. Xfmea now allows you
to automatically send the Function, Failure, Effect, Cause, Control and
Action descriptions from an existing analysis to a new or existing
Phrase Set. From the System Hierarchy menu or shortcut menu,
select Import/Export Item's FMEA then Export to New (or
Existing) Phrase Set.
Enhancements
to Control Plan and DVP&R
Xfmea
now makes it easier to update a Control
Plan or DVP&R worksheet when the original FMEA changes. The new
"Synchronization Options" feature allows you to specify which data will
be transferred and how the plan will be updated. This includes the
ability to append data to the end of an existing plan and to transfer
only those records that have been updated recently, that exceed a
specified RPN threshold, etc.
In addition, the utilities now provide the
ability to copy/paste rows and to move rows up and down within the
worksheet. You can right-click inside the worksheet to access these
commands or use the keyboard shortcuts provided.
As with the FMEA Worksheet, you now have
the ability to "split" a Control Plan or DVP&R worksheet so that
specified columns can remain stable while you scroll through the other
columns. Simply right-click inside a column header to apply or remove
the "split.
Query All Fields
in All Record Types
The Query utility now provides the ability to search for specific text
anywhere it appears in the analysis. Simply specify the text to search
for, the criteria for a match (any part of field, whole field, start of
field, case-sensitive) and which types of records to consider. Xfmea
will handle the rest.

Rename Fields Directly
from the Worksheet View
Xfmea's
capabilities to customize the
interface and reports are now even more flexible. You can now change a field
name on-the-fly by double-clicking a column header in the Worksheet
view.

Open Select
Existing Window Directly from Worksheet View
Xfmea's
Select Existing utility allows you to search for text from a
Phrase Set or existing analysis and re-use it in the current analysis.
This saves time, helps to ensure consistency within the analysis and
provides a powerful brainstorming tool. This feature is now available
directly from within the Worksheet View. To activate it, press Ctrl+E
or choose Select Existing from the Edit menu or the
shortcut menu

Display Priority Highlights in Query Results
and Reports
The Priority Highlights feature, which allows you to use color to
identify high, medium and low priority issues within the analysis, has
now been extended to query results and print-ready reports. You can
enable this optional feature from the Priority page of the User Setup.

The filtered view and query for Actions have been enhanced to allow you
to consider Action Status. Now these features can display only those
Actions that are Overdue, Due, Complete and/or Reviewed and Approved.

Integration with
XFRACAS
The data from your Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action
System (FRACAS) can be a valuable input to your FMEAs by identifying
failure modes and allowing you to estimate the frequency with which a
problem occurs in the field. Xfmea provides integration with
ReliaSoft's Web-based FRACAS
system,
XFRACAS,
by allowing you to export incident data from
XFRACAS to
a file that can be imported by
Xfmea . Likewise, you can import system
configuration and/or FMEA data from Xfmea to
XFRACAS. |
